August 29 (Sports Desk)

The International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled a groundbreaking women’s-only global partnership with Google on Friday, aimed at advancing women’s cricket through innovative technology and enhanced fan engagement.

This collaboration will leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology and commitment to women’s sports to boost accessibility and create dynamic fan experiences. The partnership comes at a pivotal moment for women’s cricket, with two major global events on the horizon: the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India and Sri Lanka, and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales.

Following Unilever’s appointment as the ICC’s first global women’s partner earlier this year, this alliance with Google further strengthens the push for greater visibility and growth of women’s cricket. Google products, including Android, Google Gemini, Google Pay, and Google Pixel, will enhance the fan journey by connecting supporters to key moments, players, and stories—from discovering match highlights to celebrating victories.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah stated, “This partnership with Google is a landmark moment for women’s cricket and underscores our commitment to elevating the women’s game to new heights. By utilizing Google’s world-class innovation, we aim to create engaging fan experiences and bring cricket closer to people worldwide. Women’s cricket is growing rapidly, and this collaboration will accelerate its global reach while inspiring future generations to embrace the sport.”

Shekar Khosla, VP of Marketing at Google India, added, “Cricket is about community and shared passion. We are proud to partner with the ICC to bring women’s cricket fans closer to the game through our technology. This alliance is about building deeper engagement, making the sport more accessible, and fostering stronger connections with what fans love.”

The partnership aims to make women’s cricket a global force, resonating with audiences in both established and emerging markets, and setting the stage for a transformative era in the sport.
