-U21 Team Triumphs Over Germany, U18 Team Defeats USA in Gold Medal Matches

India secured two prestigious gold medals at the World Archery Youth Championships 2025 in Winnipeg, Canada, with the men’s Under-18 and Under-21 compound teams emerging victorious.
The U21 team, comprising Kushal Dalal, Apar Mihir Nitin, and Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru, clinched a thrilling victory against Germany in the final. After a tied score of 233-233 at the end of four sets, the Indian trio prevailed in a tense shoot-off to claim the gold.
Earlier, the U21 team showcased their prowess by defeating Israel 235-233 in the quarter-finals and outshooting the Republic of Korea 233-228 in the semi-finals.
In the U18 final, the trio of Mohit Dagar, Yogesh Joshi, and Devansh Singh established a commanding nine-point lead by the halfway mark against the USA. They maintained their composure to secure a narrow 224-222 victory, sealing the gold medal.
The U18 team earned a direct entry to the final as the top-seeded team from the qualification rounds.

On the other hand, the Indian U18 women’s compound team fell short in the bronze medal match, losing 221-210 to Mexico. The U21 women’s compound team was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
India remains in contention for additional medals in the individual archery events scheduled over the next two days. Yogesh Joshi will compete against New Zealand’s Hector McNeilly in the U18 men’s compound semi-finals, while Prithika Pradeep and Surya Hamsini Madala will face off in an all-Indian U18 women’s compound semi-final. In the women’s U21 compound category, Chikitha Taniparthi will take on Mexico’s Paula Diaz Morillas in the semi-finals. Additionally, Sharvari Somnath Shende will meet South Korea’s Kim Minjeong in the U18 women’s recurve semi-final.
The World Archery Youth Championships 2025, the 19th edition of this biennial event since its inception in 1991, features 570 top youth archers from 63 countries competing for medals in Winnipeg.
India had a stellar performance at the previous edition in Limerick, Ireland, in 2023, winning six gold medals, including three in individual events, and topping the overall medal tally with 11 medals.
